Last Friday we told you about a vicious murder where a man was killed in front of his family while trying to protect them from a burglar. 38-year-old Brian Perez was trying to stop his killer from attacking his mother, and was shot dead while his young children and wife stood helpless. Today, we tried to ask the police for more details on this heinous murder, but the police press officer withheld any further information. Still, when we pressed him, he became defensive.

"The country was outraged yet again on Friday when another parent was killed in the presence of their young children, the public needs assurance that the police is taking this seriously and that they're investigating, we hear there's a minor being looked at for this murder."

"Cherisse, I don't know where you get your information that we don't take the loss of life seriously. Every life loss is a major incident for us and we treat it in that manner. We are investigating Mr Perez's unfortunate demise and as soon as I have any new information to share on that investigation it will be shared with you."
