Yesterday we showed you the frightening accident on Cemetery Road when an out of control "dalla van" lurched onto the sidewalk, knocked down one man, and almost leveled a primary schooler - who was quick enough to get out of the way in the nick of time.

Today the case went to court, but it wasn't the "dalla van" driver facing the judge - it was the man who got knocked down.

35 year old Chef Raymond Dyer was charged for using indent words on one of the police officers who responded to the accident scene - which is when he also "put hands" on the "dalla van" driver.

Today he told our court reporter his story of frustration:

Raymond Dyer, Charged for Indecent Words

"On Monday me and my co-worker was leaving work, we were walking on Orange Street. A "dalla van" swerve into our direction and hit me. I went to make a formal complaint on Tuesday 11:30 at the West Street police station. I was informed that I would be charged for indecent words. After I made my formal complaint about the incident that happened to me, I feel cheated. Half of the incident went on social media and I believe a lot of comment was made and I believe the police department needed to do something due to all the comments that was made and i feel cheated, because I am a victim. Yes, I was cursing and I was behaving what police called disorderly, but I got hit by a vehicle. My kids, my life flashed before my face. I believe I was within my means to react how I reacted. I wasn't in the middle of the street. This man literally swerves and accelerate this van in my direction and hit me and I feel cheated."

"Yes, I know my right went wrong when I attacked the man, but I had lost it. I want no court action at all. I made an agreement with the driver of the van to re-imburse me for my phone and that will be it. I guess with everything I shed light on, the justice system cheated me by charging me for this indecent words. Now, today I showed up to court and there is no court book, no charge at the court for me. They are wasting my time. I am a chef. I am a hard-working Belizean."

While Dyer said his indent words were targeted solely at the driver of the van, he decided that he will not waste the court's time as he intends to plead guilty to the charge. But, at the courthouse, he was told he was free to go as no court book had been prepared for him so there are no charges for him to answer at this time. As you heard the driver has not been charged because Dyer declined court action.
