As we've been reporting, the two Deputy Commissioners of Police may end up in court. That's because Deputy Bart Jones is suing the Security Services Commission for illegally promoting deputy Richard Rosado. Jones says that when Rosado was promoted there was no vacancy for a Deputy:

It's an ugly dispute with major implications for the future leadership of the department. So, where does the Police Minister stand on this deputies' dispute? We asked him today:

Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs
"Every private citizen has a right to take a matter to court and to challenge particular decision, I don't see it as unfortunate, I think that both gentleman along with the Commissioner of Police enjoy a very professional relationship and so I don't see any sort of erosion of that relationship and so Mr Jones has all right if he feels aggrieved in any way to take a matter to court. In terms of the substance of that particular case, I do not want to comment on that as that is still before the courts and if I'm not mistaken the courts have set a timeline in terms of the submissions for that particular case and I think it goes into August."

Courtney Menzies:
"But would you know if there was a promotion in 2021 at the time when DCP Dr Rosado was promoted?"

Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs
"If I recall correctly, that is when he was appointed to the post, he was appointed to the post prior to Mr Jones being appointed deputy commissioner."

Courtney Menzies:
"But was there a vacancy?"

Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs
"I do believe so, yes."

The suit went for a case management hearing today and Justice Farnesse asked for further submissions.
