And there was another shooting over the weekend that resulted in a BDF soldier's death. On Saturday night, the victim, 28-year-old Jose Manzanero was out hunting behind El Pilar in Bullet Tree Falls when one of the men he was with accidentally shot him.
And according to the shooter, 45-year-old Elvis Humes, he fired his weapon because he thought Manzanero was a deer.
Here's what the police told us about the incident today.
ACP Hilberto Romero, OC, Eastern Division
"Information was received from Elvis Humes who reported that he was hunting along with two other male persons when he accidentally shot Jose Manzanero, a BDF soldier. The person was taken the hospital and he was pronounced dead on arrival. Information from Elvis Humes is that he accidentally shot the deceased after they had deviated from each other whilst hunting in the area."

"He was detained and has been charged for manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and possession of unlicensed firearm. The firearm is not licensed to him, it is a shotgun belonging to another family member."
Courtney Menzies:
"In the report that we saw, he said that he had seen eyes that he thought were deer eyes and that's why he fired off his gun?"
ACP Hilberto Romero, OC, Eastern Division
"Yes, that is the information he provided to police."
