And the most high profile person detained for tear shooting was Hugo Cassanova from Carolina village.
He was released without charges in 48 hours - after a very high profile detention - in Belmopan, not Corozal. Today the commissioner gave us an update:
Reporter:
"Sir and again in relation to the incidents that happened here in Libertad Mr Hugo Cassanova was picked up by police and transported to Belmopan, what happened thereafter because he was released with no charges?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Well, again it's a part of the investigation process you all would know that because of the, the heightened risk in the Corozal and Orange Walk district we wouldn't want to have any high-risk prisoners detained at the police station in Corozal or Orange Walk. It would pose a risk to the police and the prisoner themselves. So what we do to ensure the security of the police and the prisoners is that we took them to Belmopan where it is more central and safer while the investigation is ongoing. He was interviewed in respect to different situations or different crimes, we were not able to gather any evidence to have charged him with any offence and based on that he was released. It does not mean that he is out of the woods. Our investigation still continues and if we should find something later on that incriminated him, then we can still proceed against him."
