One man is hospitalized after he was shot by police during a high speed chase in the Belama area last night. He is 20 year old Kenyon Plunkett, a Belizean fisherman who was traveling on the back of a motorcycle, being driven by 23 year old Victor Lopez.
It happened at around 7:45 when Police were chasing Lopez in the Belama area, and they claim that his passenger Plunkett attempted to pull an object from his waist. This led police to fire a single shot from a police issued 12 gauge shotgun at Plunkett. He was hit and crashed to the pavement. Police rushed him to the KHMH for treatment where he remains in stable condition.
