And so now the next plays will, to a fair extent, be determined by the independent Senators forming the majority in that Senate Select Special Committee.
Today a letter was sent by the Belize Network of NGO's to the Prime Minister addressing cruise port development concerns.
They are asking for an update of the status of the updated National Cruise Tourism Policy and the National Ports Policy, a report on the status of the necessary revisions to the Environmental Impact Assessment regulations - which was a commitment made under the Blue Bonds for Conservation agreement, and lastly they are asking for the disclosure of the Martin Alegria report related to cruise port and causeway development projects.
The letter maintains that multiple project proposals for the Belize city harbor have been placed forward and they have a duty to ensure that these proposals are reviewed with consideration to environmental impacts and concerns.
Signatures from multiple conservation NGOs are enclosed within the letter.
