And though there is now a tug-of-war over Port Loyola, the question remains whether the division will even survive the redistricting process. According to the leaked redistricting proposal, Port Loyola may be eliminated, and its residents will become part of other constituencies.

But, proposal or not, Martinez says that's not happening on his watch.

Anthony "Boots" Martinez, Former Port Loyola Area Rep

"There is no possibility of that. Mr Briceno, Elections and Boundaries, Taskforce, nobody has the legal authority to disseminate or break up a constituency that has the requisite number. I am sorry sir, if that possibility should ever arise, I could bet you, if nothing from the whole redistricting exercise will go afoul of the law, that one is because to start with, as a citizen and as the former area representative, if that ever try fly through, I will challenge that in court."

"From third of July to tenth of July which is the cut off date for the first list, I will tell you that Port Loyola went from fifth to fourth in the Belize Disrtict, who is talking about, right now Port Loyola have 4,760 registered voters."

"So I am saying that Port Loyola reach the threshold as the law allows it, and it is in the constitution, I don't see anybody could break that up, and there is no agreement to break that up, so if that is the case then I tell you that will be challenged in court."
