They gave him an order to leave in 2014 - but 9 years later, Illegal immigrant 29 year old Carlos David Beltran, A Salvadoran National was still living and working in Belize.
In 2014 he was detained and issued an "O-T-L" after immigration officers learned that he had entered the country through the Western border, and came to seek employment as a construction worker. But he never left.
And 9 years later, Beltran was caught again over the weekend and was charged with failure to comply with the conditions of a court order. He appeared in the Magistrates court today before Magistrate Mannon Dennison where he pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to serve three months in prison after he was unable to pay a thousand dollar fine. Beltran, the father of a four year old daughter, will be deported soon.
