And with the magistrate's court unable to grant Alex Underwood bail, can he be confident he'll get it from the Supreme Court? That's what we asked Bradley.
Dickie Bradley, Attorney-At-Law
"Well, I expect that. I know I'm trying not to segue into another matter. I expect that the law in this country is that one, the constitutional right of all of us is the presumption of innocence. The society must not, the court system must not fall into the trap of trying to use bail as a weapon to punish people who are merely accused of something."
"Now this accusation, by the way stretches back to 2016 and 2018. This is not that he's a gang member. Right now, there is no charge that says that. In fact, the charge sheet does not see when or what period he's a gang member. Okay."
Reporter:
"Why would, do you know why the first charge was withdrawn against him? Apparently, he was charged before, but those charges were withdrawn."
Dickie Bradley, Attorney-At-Law
"It marks on the on the court record that it was withdrawn by the prosecutor when they withdrew my charge against you it is because they simply really don't have what in the trade that we are in a scintilla of evidence to go to court. Now, if Mr. Underwood is what they say he was he has other attorneys, he could have said sue them. Because you can't pick me up, make those kind of accusation and drag me and out of court."
"And when time come for my trial, it's all right your honor we're not going ahead again. That's not the society we want. Yeah, because the question that you can retaliate against higher levels of the society is clearly they are not stupid people and they know they're being targeted. When you're innocent and they put you in a jail, you know, what all you go through in that place there?"
"You know how you feel as a human being. So thank you very much for putting your hard questions to me and making me make enemies."
