The commissioner of police spoke to the media after an early return from a high level security meeting in Mexico. He refused to discuss the meeting, but reports tell us it involved discussion of cartel activity in Chetumal and Corozal.
To that end, he says police have been making some progress in getting the heavy artillery and assault rifles off the streets - with the seizure of two big guns:..
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"And yes, we have been able to retrieve or remove from the streets two AK 47. Those are the 7.62 type rifles as well as one grenade. One of the rifles were recovered from an area in the Corozal district about two weeks ago, and we believe that that was the weapon used in the shooting of the guy Tillet. And so we have sent that rifle, along with all the expended shells from the different scenes where 7.62 was used to the lab to ascertain if that is the weapon that was that had been used in those incidents."
