And though Estrada's family has yet to establish a concrete motive as to why their loved one was targeted, authorities remain on the hunt for the accused Dimas Duarte who is no stranger to police. But not because of criminally related instance but instead, Duarte is said to have worked closely with the department as a former volunteer - and was also the holder of a valid driver's license.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"The information we gathered is that about a couple months ago I believe in the month of May to be exact. Estrada was accused of stabbing Duarte during a previous misunderstanding that they had. And Perhaps that incident motivated what took place on Friday night."
Jules Vasquez
"Isnt Dimas Duarte a former special constable?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"No sir, he was one of those persons who volunteered with the police in that area. He is not a special constable per say he is not paid or ever been paid by the police or the government of Belize in any way. You would know that in some communities we do have some people who would volunteer and come and work with the police and do patrols. He use to do that with the police in San Ignacio but he had stopped over three to four years ago so he was not engaged any at all with the police."
Jules Vasquez
"But he had a licensed firearm?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"He had two licensed firearms, yes."
Jules Vasquez
"And he used to work with Mr Vidal, we are told."
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"I don't know about that I know that he used to like I said volunteer with the police in San Ignacio when Mr Rosado was the OC but I am not aware of him working with Mr Vidal."
