And while the prosecution's case is proceeding - there's actually a huge chunk of missing evidence - and its disappearance points to corruption in the judicial and law enforcement apparatus generally.
The Commissioner today conceded that it is something he and the DPP are looking at urgently:

"It's also a case where the evidence has been compromised by the various levels of law enforcement. There was a recording or multiple recordings I am told which one of the officers testified yesterday, Mr. Ferrufino gave to him and then his computer stopped working and he lost that evidence. And I believe further evidence will show that other persons for whatever reason, the electronic evidence disappeared. Is this a proof of corruption or people being compromised within the law enforcement?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Certainly there is an issue of compromised individuals within the system. I'm not going to say at what level of a system but there is some issue of compromise. And it is something that we are looking at myself and the DPP, but other than that I am not going to comment further. As you know the matter is a live issue before the court. And as you rightly said I'll be testifying today in that matter and then we'll see how it goes from there."

"What kind of actions can you take against persons that you suspect are involved in corruption?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Jump to the police department, it's not the police."
Reporter
"Or whichever, how do you...?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Like I said we are looking at it myself and the DPP. If we should get the right evidence to pinpoint a particular individual then we proceed to prosecuting that person."
