Former UDP Minister, Rene Montero was today committed to stand trial at the high court. Montero returned to the country June 2022, after an Interpol Red Notice was issued for his arrest. He was later charged for "willful oppression contrary to the criminal code" for the alleged use of public property for private and personal gain, during his tenure as the Minister of Works. This allegation reportedly occurred between 2016 to 2020.

He was arraigned in the Belmopan's Magistrate court at the time and was represented by Dickie Bradley.

But today, it was attorney Rachel Montejo who appeared for him, as he was committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court to answer for the charges.

We will keep following.
