Last night, we told you about a shooting in Lord's Bank Village. No one was injured, and the alleged shooter was detained. And this morning, 22-year-old James Linsford Vargass was arraigned on a single charge of aggravated assault with a firearm.
But, notably, even though police recovered a loaded Sig Sauer pistol, he was not levied with any other firearm related charges. We asked the ComPol why that was.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"I don't know the circumstances under which the police found the weapon but from what I was told that the weapon used in that particular incident was found, I would have to follow up with the police officer to see why he was not charged if that was true but yes the perpetrator in that particular incident was caught moments after the incident."
Courtney Menzies:
"Is there a possibility that he wasn't charged because he had a license?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"No, no, no, no. I know Channel 7 would want everybody who commit a crime have a gun license."
Vargas pleaded not guilty and was denied bail. He will be back in court on April 10th.
