Of course, with the involvement of a political element- and with municipal elections around the corner, the PUP is watching developments closely. Today we asked the Minister of Home Affairs for an update:
Jo
"We wanted to ask you for your intake on this entire situation regarding these allegations involving a Belize City attorney. To your knowledge, how exactly are you guys addressing this?"
Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs
"Well, as you know, Jomarie, that matter is still under investigation. It is a matter that possibly has two victims and so it's not appropriate for me as minister to comment or to delve into any sort of details but I can assure you that the matter is being dealt with, it is being investigated."
"Statements have been recorded and sent to the DPP for her determination if there are any charges to be levied."
Jo
"Will this individual, since he's attorney, will he be allowed to represent himself?"
Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs
"I think that's up to the attorney if they want to represent themselves. As you know, the old saying goes, anybody who represents themselves is a fool. So more than likely, that individual would probably lawyer up."
