Two men escaped serious injury after a gunman's pistol snapped twice when it was pointed at them.
It happened on Friday afternoon on East Canal in Belize City.
A gunman approached Norman Grant and Norris Patnett on bicycle. He pulled out a firearm, pointed it at Patnett and pulled the trigger but the firearm snapped. Patnett dashed off, and the gunman then did the same to Grant, but the gun snapped again.
Police told us more:
ACP Hilberto Romero, OCED
"Norman Grant and Norris Patnett reported that they were on East Canal doing some business when a male person came and pointed a fire at them and attempted to fire at them, put the gun snapped. Thereafter the male person ran away."
"An investigation was carried out and we have since detained Jaheel Craig, 20 years and he has since been charged for two counts of aggravated assault. And we do not have a motive. They were in the area when this person just came and attempted to fire the weapon at them."
Craig, who told the court he is an employee of the LIU, has been remanded.
