Tonight, Corozal police are working on solving an apparent homicide. A body was found in the town this afternoon around 2:30 on the Santa Rita Road behind the newly built Mormon church.
Police and a Scenes of Crime team responded to a bushy area off the road where the remains of a male body were found. The area is used as a dumping site - but, today, traces of blood could be found. Police also found a machete.
So far reports are only saying that it appears to be a young man - but no identification has been confirmed.
The victim is believed to be from Orange Walk and it is suspected that he may have been killed by one of his friends. A man was detained nearby and police believe he can help in the investigation.
