A man will be spending 9 years behind bars after being convicted of stabbing his step father. The incident occurred back in July 2016, and 27-year-old Michael Baptist, aka Chucky, was charged with dangerous harm. In November, he was found guilty by a jury.
Justice Nigel Pilgrim explained that he took several factors into consideration before sentencing Baptist, including the victim impact statement, Baptist's theft charge, and the fact that his stepfather is now considered handicapped. The 9 years began on November 22nd 2023.
According to the victim's testimony, he was at his Los Lagos home when Baptist came by. He asked if he could spend the night, and while the victim was sleeping, he stabbed him 27 times.
