A Belama store-keeper who shot a man in front of his business on February 18th is still in jail tonight - even though the man he shot has opted not to press charges.

29 year old Wenjing Lei who was charged for deadly means of harm and wounding, after shooting a man in the foot in front of Guan Fa Chinese store last week Sunday, appeared before the magistrates court today. The judge levied another charge upon him for discharging a firearm in public.

After he was read that third charge, Lei was then taken to the High Court to hear if his application for bail was granted. That court did grant him bail of $8,000 plus three sureties of the same amount but Lei was unable to meet it and so he was remanded to prison until he can put the money together.
