Female Coast Guard Keyren Tzib has been found guilty of attempted murder. Justice Candace Nanton found the 33 year old guilty of shooting fellow Guardsman, Kurt Hyde - in the back of his head with a M16 Carbine rifle in April 2015. Hyde survived.
Justice Nanton rejected Tzib's dock statement that she accidentally shot Hyde.
But after being found guilty, the Crown heavily objected to bail being granted to Tzib, while her attorney, Darrell Bradley asked the court to considered the due to her PTSD diagnosis by a nurse, Tzib is in no condition to be remanded until sentencing as it could affect her present state of mind on that day.
The defense also informed the court that they are seeking a non-custodial sentence while the crown is asking the court to impose a custodial sentence for the serious nature of the offense.
However the defense was successful in getting her bail of $15,000 dollars with stringent conditions.
Tzib will be sentenced on April 26th.
