Following him was the Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries. He spoke about what could be a breakthrough in crime solving: a rapid DAN system. Here's how he explained it:

Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs

"We will madam speaker Construct an industry standard scenes of Crime field office in Dangriga with INL funding and finally madame speaker and one for which I am extremely proud as minister. The MFSS will purchase a rapid DNA system to enhance forensic investigative capacity of law enforcement by providing timely identification of suspects or missing persons in addition to the purchase of a new ballistic comparison microscope to enhance capacity for forensic firearms analysis. Madam speaker this rapid DNA Analysis system is extremely important not just in homicide cases where there may be blood stains that need to be tested in a very rapid fashion but also in sexual assault cases where bodily fluids may have been left behind. Many times you know at a crime scene."

"Evidence is left behind but it take months because we have to send that evidence abroad for DNA testing. What this rapid DNA analysis system will now do is allow us to confirm or deny the blood stain or the bodily fluid left behind if it is from that individual who the police may have in custody within that 24 hour period and so this madam speaker is extremely ground breaking."

The debate continues tomorrow.
