Tonight the Customs Department is deep into the interior of the Victor L Bryant Warehouse in Belize City. They're looking for bottles of top shelf liquor with fake "Belize Market" labels.
These are the labels that are required by law to be attached to every bottle of imported whiskey, tequila, gin, liquor, imported rum, vodka, brandy, cognac and bitters.
The sticker is designed with a hologram and brilliant colors so it is difficult to forge. When the genuine sticker is attached, it denotes that all customs, duties and permits have been paid.
Well, the Customs Department suspects that this warehouse has been shipping out hundreds of cases with fake "Belize Market" labels. It represents a huge loss in revenue to government because it's possibly hundreds of cases involved.
The customs team has been in the warehouse all day loading up cases - and is still there at this hour.
We went looking for some of these fake labels on the market and found ones that look like this - a very poor copy of the full color original.
We'll keep following the story.
