11 months after one of the worst road traffic accidents of 2023 that claimed the lives of three cousins, the driver and only survivor has been charged.
32 year old Kurt Belisle, who was confined to a wheelchair following the accident, was today arraigned on 3 counts of manslaughter by negligence today before magistrate Lois Young.
On June 10th of last year, Belisle was behind the wheel of this white ford ranger when he lost control and swerved off the George Price Highway, slamming into one tree and then another, instantly killing all three of his passengers, 27 year old Virgina Davis, her sister Dorothy Davis and their younger cousin 17 year old Torrie Gentle, all from the community of Fresh Pond.
Belisle was represented in court today by attorney OJ Elrington who discussed the case:
OJ Elrington, Attorney

"Well, he was read three counts of manslaughter by negligence and he appeared in front of the learned magistrate. He arranged on the matter. Obviously, he is still restricted to a wheelchair and so the magistrate was cognizant of that in giving his bail conditions."
"Well, he got bail in the sum of $5,000 and he is to ensure that he does not interfere with any of the prosecution witnesses either by himself or through any third partner or through any instrument."
