And while there are fires in the south and west, there's also another gun crime to report in San Ignacio town.

A storekeeper was shot this morning in an attempted robbery.

It happened on Flamboyant Street. The store owner, Dake Yu, saw a motorcycle doing a U turn in front of his store and immediately became suspicious. When one of the men came in, he pulled out his own firearm, but wasn't quick enough, and sustained a gunshot from the robber's gun.

The ComPol gave us details today and Courtney Menzies has this story.

61 Supermarket in the San Juan Layout of San Ignacio was the target for robbers this morning. When we got there, the scenes of crime personnel were looking for evidence after the shop owner had been shot once.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

After the shooting, the grocer was rushed to the San Ignacio Community Hospital. At this time, police have no suspects.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Police have or are in the process of viewing a number of surveillance footages to ascertain exactly what happened and are pursuing two suspects at this time."

Initial reports stated that the robbers took Yu to the hospital, but these reports turned out to be false.
