Following the enactment of the Criminal Records Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 2024, the government has introduced the Criminal Record Expungement Services. This initiative, aligned with Belize's ongoing criminal justice reforms, offers a pathway for eligible individuals to clear their criminal records, promoting second chances and improved opportunities in personal and professional spheres. Applications are reviewed by the newly established Criminal Records Board and application forms are available at Ministry of Human Development offices across the country as well as the Ministry of Home Affairs office in Belmopan, and on the Ministry of Home Affairs website.

As a demonstration of how it works, a man charged with a Covid mask offense in 2020 had his 500 dollar fine written off under the new Rehabilitation of Offenders amendment Act or 2024.
