A Belizean-American technician from Las Vegas was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate's Court this morning on three traffic related charges following a fatal accident in Maskall Village that claimed the life of 18 year old Triston Ortiz. As we told you, Ortiz was killed on Sunday after the vehicle he was traveling in crashed into a bridge and fell onto the riverbank.
34 year old Gilbert Anthony Graham was formally charged with manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, and driving without due care and attention.
Graham, who was accompanied by his attorney, Ellis Arnold, did not enter a plea. Arnold informed the court that his client is grieving the loss of someone he considered a brother. He also assured the court that Graham would return to Belize to face the charges.
Bail was granted in the sum of $5,000 plus one surety, which he met. His next court appearance is set for August 15, 2025.
