But it seemed to us that the first issue Peyrefitte has to confront is: who is the party leader? Shyne Barrow continues to hold the seat - even against bitter opposition. So, does Peyrefitte support that? Well, he wouldn't say:

Jules Vasquez
"But if you have un-resigned as chairman, is there an implicit suggestion in there that you also accept that Shyne Barrow has un-resigned as leader and you are the chairman and he's the leader. Do you accept that construction?"

Mike Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman

"I will not entertain the media by giving some sort of sound bite that could lead to some mischief."

"We don't need that any more in the UDP."

"Whoanybody is at this point, right now? I mean it is immaterial, is immaterial."

Jules Vasquez
"How can your party leader be immaterial Sir? I'm just asking you for one declaration. Is Shyne Barrow your Party leader?"

Mike Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman
"I have spoken. I have spoken already on that matter. I think you have me mistaken for a man who repeats himself. I have spoken on that matter. Look, you want to. You want to call me daddy? You want to call me Emperor? You want to call me? Well, whoever wants to call themselves whatever is immaterial that has not served us within me would be nobody. Nobody is nothing. And everybody is everything in the UDP at this point."

We'll have more from Peyrefitte on the state of the UDP - later on in the news.
