As we told you at the top of the news, Mike Peyrefitte is coming back as Chairman of the UDP. And while he hopes he can help the party to heal and find a way forward - the truth is Peyrefitte himself has been a very divisive figure - publicly maligned by the Tracy Panton faction. We asked him bout that and he told us that while they may not all sing Kumbaya - they can agree that they are all UDP's:

Jules Vasquez
"How do you all get past these deeply felt personal divisions to move towards a conciliatory stance. Can you work with Mr. Faber? Can you work with Tracy Panton? Can they work with you?"

Mike Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman

"Well, time will tell. I do know that, what enabled us to even get to where we are now is the love of our country and the love of our party."

"We cannot, as we have the generation that's coming after us. We cannot have them see us like this."

"We don't have to hold hands and sing Kumbaya. But we have to understand the importance of the role of the opposition. And we have to understand that we may have all been at fault. In terms of where the UDP is now, but we have to move forward."

Jules Vasquez
"Things have to be really bad to make certain people in the UDP who characterize you as the devil incarnate, to make them call upon you for being a unifier. The man who they claim divided and split this party with his, with his maliciousness, purposeful."

Mike Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman
"I don't care what anybody has to say about me behind my back. I am here for the UDP. I'm here to enable UDP to be in a position to deal with this maladministration that we have with the PUP."

"What was said about me in the past or it's neither here nor there. And, it's it's really. It's really nothing. We need to move forward. We need to move forward and stop being hung up on some, petty, petty issues. And if 1 or 2 people here are somehow still butthurt about something that I said or did, well, take some painkillers."
