They Called It Police Brutality In Paraiso, But It's The Villagers Who Got Charged

Yesterday we told you that police had launched an investigation in Paraiso village Corozal after a family got into a brawl with the cops when they tried to detain one of their relatives. Today 8 of those family members were charged with obstruction, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. They are: Miguel Salazar, Hugo Poncio, Javier Salazar, Jose Luis Salazar Jr., Cesar Salazar, Jose Luis Salazar Sr., Judith Salazar, and Samuel Salazar. The family was released on bail of one thousand dollars and are expected to appear in court again tomorrow in Corozal.

Police say they are doing their own investigation into the conduct of the arresting officers.
