Joseph Budna remains in a Guatemala City jail tonight - awaiting an opportunity to appear before a judge. But he told us that he did get a visit from two staffers from the Belizean Embassy in Guatemala last week. He claims they went to check on him - but did not ask about his injuries - which he showed them anyway. He maintains that police are responsible for his injuries and that they were acting on the part of the State.
And while Channel 7 continues to call for police and the government to release the surveillance videos from the Treasury Department, the Library and the House of Culture and appoint an independent investigator - the police and the state have gone mute. There has been no no update on the investigation from police and no official response from the Prime Minister or the Home Affairs Minister - on what is widely seen as an extrajudicial extradition.
Budna remains confident that the Guatemalan courts will not approve of how he was taken into custody - even though he is a fugitive in that country.
