And that's not the only big suit being brought against the government. Another was filed today by attorneys of Ryan Joseph Budna seeking Constitutional relief for his unlawful abduction. The suit names everybody from the Attorney General, to the police Minister Kareem Musa, to the police. Commissioner Richard Rosado, to Constable Barry Flowers, along with two others who were supposedly in the abduction team. It also names two police corporals Choco and Gabriel who - in the course of their lawful duties on that night came face to face with the abductors.
The suit asks the court to make a declaration that that Budna was unlawfully arrested, tortured, denied assistance, kidnapped, and expelled from Belize to Guatemala, It also asks the court to order government to ensure Budna's return to Belize "through legal and diplomatic means", and hold an inquiry in his unlawful extradition to Guatemala. It also asks for damages and costs.
The suit is filed by three attorneys, Arthur Saldivar, Michelle Trapp and Emmertice Anderson. Saldivar and Trapp declined to comment today.
