Student Union Says System Should Have Done More To Protect Angelita

As we showed you earlier, a very sad triple funeral was held today in Orange Walk for Angelita Magana and her two children. All three of them died as the result of an arson murder in San Felipe.

Today the National Student Union of Belize issued a press release on the tragedy, particularly on behalf of Shadia Magana, who was a student at Muffles Junior College. They emphasized that it was a systematic failure that led to the murder of her and her family. According to the director of events, Jaleeza Roberts, while this tragedy cannot be undone, it can be used as a springboard to change the culture of domestic violence in Belize. We spoke to her via Zoom.
