Blamed For Weed Gummies On The Street, Court Tells Exhibit Keeper He Could Face A Year In Jail

An exhibit keeper at the Belize Police Department remains on interdiction following a criminal charge of willful oppression following the disposal of marijuana infused gummies that later made it into the hands of children back in 2023.

Mario Bustillos was represented by attorney Nazira Myles in court yesterday. He had sought a sentencing indication from the court because he was considering pleading guilty. Justice Nigel Pilgrim informed him that he was looking at one year imprisonment. Bustillos rejected the sentencing indication and decided to take his chances in a trial. The matter is further adjourned for January 29th 2026.
