And going back now to a story that should have aired in our first segment - Joseph Budna currently has a Constitutional claim before the court for illegal abduction by state actors. If that succeeds, would GOB, specifically the Attorney General's ministry pursue Budna's return to Belize? The AG says that there are a number of steps they would have to take for this to happen.
Anthony Sylvester, Attorney General
"So there are a number of declarations and orders that have been sought. So if we were to look at what the court ordered and so the claim seems to be similarly crafted and takes the same approach as the George Herbert claim which would have been initiated back in 2004 I think. But the court would not be able to direct the government to have its return because that clearly would involve some potential, transitional issues between countries but what the court may order, can order as was the case in the George Herbert to say: listen take all steps reasonable steps to have the person repatriated which was ordered in the George Herbert case and which was done by the Government of Belize in the George Herbert matter."
