And in a word of caution - police urged businesses to stay away from cash transactions - because that creates criminal targets. ASP Smith urges businesses to perform more electronic transactions for the safety of their truck employees.

"I will similarly want to advise businesses to move away from financial transactions that involve money. Electronic transactions are the safest and especially so when you do not have a security mechanism in places this leaves those employees exposed because they are known to be traveling with proceeds of whatever delivery that they make. While we continue to do our part and we did in fact deploy operational efforts in that area as a consequence of the last incident we still ask that members of the public do their necessary due diligence in terms of taking care of themselves. This issue can only be addressed by a combination of police efforts as well as citizens playing their parts in terms of sharing information and also those citizens being security conscious and alert when it is that they are traveling."

Police Officer and BDF Soldier Sent To Jail For "Perverting The Course of Justice" BDF Alcoser goes to jail for 1 year 2 months, while Cop, Morales goes to jail for 1 year 11 months with effect from today, Friday, December 12.

The sentence for a soldier and a policeman who were convicted of perverting the course of justice was handed down today by Senior Magistrate Baja Shoman.

Attorneys for Private Ramon Alcoser and Constable Juan Carlps Morales had asked the court for a non-custodial sentence. Morales was very emotional, crying during his plea to the court. The attorney for Morales, Ellis Arnold says they will be appealing the matter.

The lawmen were both found guilty of perverting the court of justice in the shooting death of BDF Soldier Jessie Escobar who was shot and killed in Santa Familia Village in September of 2021. The court found them guilty of omitting and misrepresenting key details in their statements after surveillance video showed the true facts.
