A 13-year-old girl has reported to police that she was sexually assaulted on two separate occasions by a male family friend in Orange Walk Town.

The minor, accompanied by her mother, visited the Orange Walk Police Station on Monday to file the complaint. The child detailed two alleged incidents involving the suspect, whom she described as a family friend.

The first incident occurred sometime in 2025 and the second allegedly took place more recently on Saturday, January 3. The child stated that while returning home with family members, the accused approached her and asked her to go to his house to get something for her mother. When she refused, the man reportedly got behind her, placed a cloth smelling of alcohol over her nose and mouth, and caused her to lose consciousness.

Upon regaining consciousness, the victim stated she found herself lying face up on a bed in the suspect's house with her short pants pulled down. She immediately dressed and fled the residence. The child did not disclose the assault to anyone immediately but confided in her mother in the early hours of Monday morning.

Police have interviewed the child in the presence of her mother and a social worker. She was subsequently taken for a medical examination, which confirmed that she had been molested. No person has been detained as of the latest update.
