And while Belizean students in Taiwan are monitoring the situation, what about those who attend universities in Venezuela? Fonseca confirmed they're safely at home:
Francis Fonseca, Minister of FAFT
"I think we had my understanding is we had about five students who were studying in Venezuela, in different fields. I think most of them were on scholarships from Venezuela, some full scholarships, some partial scholarships. But all five students, because of the events over the last few months, we were in discussion with them and in contact with them, our ambassador, Annie Lou Burns. And so they all came to Belize over the Christmas holidays. And they are all here in Belize, safely in Belize. And it will not be returning to Venezuela until, you know, we are comfortable that, it is, you know, safe for them to go back."
