He was a trusted family friend, but Orange Walk police have charged a man for a sexual offense against a child. The accused is said to have had sexual interactions with a 12 year old girl on 8 different occasions between January of 2024 and 31st December 2025.
The minor accompanied by her mother filed a report on December 21st 2025, and requested court action. 2 months later the accused - whose name we cannot release to protect the child - handed himself into police custody in the presence of his attorney. The 37 year old was charged for 2 counts of rape of a child, 2 counts of Attempt rape of a child and 4 counts of Assault of a child under 16 years by penetration. He appeared in court and was remanded.
The child says she was molested when her father left her at home under the supervision of the accused man until he returned from work daily at 5:00pm.
