Careless Cop Shot Himself In Foot

Tonight, a police officer is recovering after he shot himself just outside the Precinct 1 Police Station this morning.

Around 7:55 a.m, 33-year-old police constable Inebesi Zuniga, attached to the Special Patrol Unit, accidentally discharged his service weapon while inside a police mobile.

Initial findings indicate that a constable had just cleared two service weapons handed over by another officer. One of the weapons was then issued to Zuniga who, while clearing and loading it, accidentally fired a single shot that struck his left foot.

Zuniga was transported to the KHMH, where he was admitted in stable condition.

The firearm was documented, sealed and labeled as an exhibit as part of the ongoing investigation.
