But - as media activist Yaya Marin put it - "fool dih taak but dah noh fool dih listen." She went back and forth with Awich, saying that by not meeting the BCWJ's demands, they are going against the CCJ ruling and thus breaking the law.

Here's how that exchange went.

Reporter
"you're not following the CCJ ruling. I don't know, you can come and talk legal language but the CCJ ruling said this, so if one of us don't follow the law, they come for us, including the labor department who aren't enforcing the rules, unless I got it wrong. The CCJ ruling on November 25th said and then the prime minister said and then the labor minister who is an attorney said, isn't the 6% the standard when it comes to severance? I'm asking in the court, isn't the court standard?"

Kileru Awich, Internal Legal Counsel
"6% interest is prescribed by the senior courts act and that is awarded on judgement debts."

Reporter
"So what does that mean?"

Kileru Awich, Internal Legal Counsel
"That means when you succeed in your claim at court, the court can award you that 6% because the senior court act has made provision for that 6% and then the court may or may not give you interest from the date before judgement, it is at the discretion of the court."

Reporter
"So the CCJ ruling didn't say 6% ruling on the severance?"

Kileru Awich, Internal Legal Counsel
"We have complied with the order regarding the interest and regarding the severance payment as ordered by the CCJ. You have to remember that in Irvin Marin, the order that was made was in relation to the parties in that case. The order were made against BTL in favor of Irvin Marin and the other appellants in the Irvin Marin judgement. So we have fully complied all sums under that judgement order have been paid. It is absolutely wrong, incorrect and false for anyone to say that BTL has failed to comply with the CCJ judgement, that is an uninformed opinion and it is absolutely false."

Reporter
"Okay that's what you are saying but not because you say so means it's so. There's other legal minds like Glenfield Dennison, and not because we're not attorneys means we don't have common sense and we can't think and reason for ourselves so I'm telling you categorically, that's not how we receive it."

And Marin will likely be a part of the BCWJ's protest tomorrow. As we told you, they will be in front of chairman Mark Lizarraga's home and business at Southside Meats. He was notably absent from today's event.
