Tonight, the family of 47 year old teacher Alex Noralez, is hoping Dickie Bradley can get him out of jail.
As we have reported, the San Pedro resident was convicted of three counts of sexual assault involving two high school students. He is currently serving 18 months in prison.
His family has since retained attorney Richard "Dickie" Bradley who is now seeking a stay of execution for his client. He explained in an interview outside of court that Noralez has a strong prospect of having his conviction overturned. Court reporter Anita Nembhard spoke to him following the proceedings.

"This case the application to the magistrate court is that Mr. Noralez has a good prospect of success in his appeal, that there are legal errors and other matters in relation to the trial that occurred."

"And so Mr. Noralez and his family are applying to the court for what law refers to as a stay of execution, meaning that you can freeze, you can stay the decision that he goes to jail or remains in jail while he's awaiting his appeal to be called."
"There are several factors that are in his favor in relation to the application. And so this morning, the courts heard those factors and also heard the opposing side from prosecutor Christopher Smith."
"He also cited the high-profile case of a Coye family that had gone all the way to the court of appeal and their appeal was successful in the end. Application for the magistrate to consider were several."
"A little bit of details were provided in regards to the error of from a legal perspective. What the law requires that should happen in a magistrate court on hearing evidence and also several other factors that are very salient in relation to an application of this nature, including the health of the person who is appealing."
"He has actually had to be submitted a medical review at a medical watch because for many years he has suffered from an ailment and it is of course unfair for me to speak out anybody medical history. But for the last several days the prison has had its medical personnel attend to him."
A ruling will be delivered on March 24th. Noralez's family hopes that he will be granted bail due to his ongoing health issues.
