A domestic dispute between a Belize City couple has put a 26-year-old woman behind bars after she was accused of stabbing her common-law husband multiple times and cutting his throat with a broken bottle.
Amber Arnold appeared unrepresented today before Senior Magistrate Mannon Dennison in the Belize City Magistrate's Court. She was charged with wounding her common-law husband, 42-year-old labourer Marvin Grant. Arnold allegedly became upset after he answered a phone call from a woman, and she accused him of cheating. Grant told police that Arnold returned from the kitchen with a knife, and later broke a pint bottle and held it to his throat, causing a cut to his neck. He further reported that as he attempted to walk away, Arnold stabbed him twice in the upper back, leaving him with multiple injuries.
An equivocal plea of not guilty was entered on her behalf. Arnold was remanded to Prison and is scheduled to return to Court on May 13th.
