And keeping it in the north, we told you that the BSCFA rejected the PM's proposal to drop their Fairtrade litigation against Tate and Lyle and BSI.
Yesterday Briceno said he was only trying to help them get past the issue and move on. But he added that there's only so much help he can give them before the other sectors start clamoring for the same.

"Are you disappointed at the vote of the BSCFA membership?"

John Briceno, Prime Minister
"Not necessarily. I think as I said earlier it's a decision that they have to make. All I was hoping was how we could try to bring this to an end. And if they feel like they want to continue with that then that's on them. The problem is that we have as a Cabinet that we can't conirtnue bailing out BSCFA. They have come several times to us to bail them out and we have done so because they play an important role in the sugar industry but whenever we do that, colleagues start to tell us well how about tour operators, how about the fisherfolk, how about these people that have to buy more boats or down south, agriculture down south, the cacao people they're always reminding me during the fires a lot of small cacao farmers lot their produce and we did not manage to give them the help that they needed so it creates a sense of frustration and jealously within the Cabinet and I don't know for how long I'll be able to do that because the rest will say hold on, before you do that, we also have to give to the other areas and I'd also like to make the point that whenever the government gives monies to one association, the other associations say we're also taxpayers so we also deserve a part of that money so all I was trying to see was how we could find a way out to put an end to this but if they feel like they want to continue with the case, that's fully their right."

"Will the fertilizer still be provided?"
John Briceno, Prime Minister
"Well the support now because of this case, we will probably provide the support but then we'll have to share it between the four associations."
