Turning back to police news, the Department is issuing a stern reminder to licensed firearm holders: losing your weapon comes with consequences.
The warning follows two high-profile crimes: the Inhale Vape store robbery and the murder of Salma Funez. In both crimes, stolen licensed firearms were used. Police say these cases highlight a troubling lapse in gun ownership:

"In relation to the Inhale Vapor, the weapons that were recovered were weapons that were stolen in a robbery in southern Belize. And then in relation to the matter pertaining to Ms.Funez, the extent of the actions which I suspect will be taken at this point in time because both persons reported, the individual in question, the licenseholders in question reported his weapons stolen. But there is cause for concern as it related to the safekeeping habits. And the recommendations will be made to the board in that regard."
