And Corozal also saw a road traffic accident that has left a football player without her leg. Just after 7 last night on the San Victor Road, a van with several adults and children collided into a cane truck. Reports are that Miriam Villamil, who was seated at the front, received severe injuries that have caused one of her legs to be amputated. ASP Stacy Smith told us what the police know so far.

"On Tuesday 26th May 2026 at approximately 7:15pm acting upon information received of a road traffic accident, Corozal police proceeded to San Victor road in that municipality where they observed a white 24 seater van which was extensively damaged to the front and they also observed a 6 wheeler cane truck loaded with cargo that showed damage to the rear. Initial investigation revealed that the cane truck is reported to have encountered some mechanical issues and as such it was parked on the shoulder of the road and subsequent to that it was rear ended by a white van. Onboard the white van at the time were 8 persons and seriously injured in that collision was 37 year old Ms Villamil. Ms Villamil is liste din a serious but stable condition."
