And while the SOE is still active, some persons of interest have yet to be captured. Over the weekend the Coast Guard assisted the police in capturing one who escaped by boat:

"There was a person of interest that had evaded police by sea and so we were contacted, we pursued, we have a quick reaction crew here at base that is on notice to move so we were able to deploy that quick reaction team who intercepted the vessel, detained the person of interest and handed that person of interest over to our colleagues over at the police department so it really I must at this point speak to the relationship that the Belize Coast Guard has with the police department."
