He was accused of murder but Doratian Salam has been sentenced to 16 years for manslaughter in the 2022 killing of Kevin Williams, following a judge-alone trial in the High Court's Southern District.
The verdict was delivered by Justice Antoinette Moore on March 23, 2026. Salam had been charged with the murder of Williams, who died after suffering multiple stab wounds during an altercation in Dangriga Town on October 8, 2022.
He pleaded not guilty when the matter went to trial in October 2025.
In her judgment, Justice Moore found that the evidence established beyond a reasonable doubt that Salam inflicted the fatal injuries and that there was no lawful justification for the attack. However, the court was not satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that Salam intended to kill Williams, a necessary element for a murder conviction. Without that element, she convicted him of manslaughter.
Salam was represented by Attorney Arthur Saldivar while Javier Chan, Assistant DPP represented the Crown.
