A Trinidadian national visiting Belize made waves when he appeared on a YouTuber's platform claiming to be in charge of a $125 million project.
When he was reported missing weeks later in Trinidad, it certainly raised alarms; he had said he was a Procurement Specialist in charge of a $125 million US dollar project.
And that's why when he was reported missing in Trinidad, it raised alarms in Belize.
Well, it turns out he wasn't missing after all; this procurement specialist was also a malpago specialist. Police told us more:

"Yes I can confirm that on 29th of May 2026 police formally arrested and charged 47 year old Rubindra Dale Rampersad a Trindadian national for the offense of making off without payment as a consequence of a report made by a manger of Golden Bay limited that he had booked their room for a period of, I believe, a month. And from the initial date that he would have booked, he used a credit card but that credit card gave trouble and after numerous attempts and communication that still failed. However they noted that on 29th May he had departed and that information was communicated and due to liaising with the police officials at the airport he was intercepted there and subsequently charged for making off without payment, taken before the court and he is currently remanded at the Belize central prison."
