One of the most senior pastors in Toledo and former head of the National Evangelical Association of Belize, Pastor Victor Wagner (Hernandez), was today found guilty of 2 counts of rape and 1 count of sexual assault by Justice Antonette Moore in Punta Gorda.
He was charged for rape and sexual assault upon a 35-year-old woman in 2024. She endured threats before she made the complaint and during the trial, she broke down during her testimony and it had to be adjourned briefly.
In the end though, Justice Moore found her to be credible and declared Hernandez guilty. He will be sentenced in a week's time and the 67-year-old could face a sentence of not less than 8 years with a maximum of life imprisonment.
Hernandez-who recently had a stroke-was represented by Leslie Hamilton. The case was prosecuted by Assistant DPP Javier Chan.
